2. Course Design
This online course will teach you how to navigate within the required Code documents, which is an essential skill to answer questions accurately and in a timely fashion. It also contains explanatory lessons to assist with the contents and use of the various codes and recommended practices.
There are 1500 simulation questions throughout the course along with 4 final exams. These tests are very important because they will help you become familiar with the kind of questions that will be asked on the actual exam. Those 4 simulation exams are very helpful in letting you know how well prepared you are. All questions and answers have been made and reviewed by a Senior Inspection Engineer.

6. Course Length
The whole content of level 3 course takes between 80 to 120 hours to complete. The actual time required may vary depending on your educational background and work experience.

Are You Qualified To Take The API 510 Exam?
The minimum qualification requirements for API 510 Pressure Vessel inspector certification are based on the combination of education and experience related to pressure vessels. This experience must have been acquired within the last 10 years while employed by, or under contract with, an authorized inspection agency as defined in API 510.

What is the exam structure?
The API 510 exam day is 7.5 hours long - a short tutorial session, 2.75 hours for the closed-book portion, a 45-minute lunch break and 3.75 hours for the open-book portion. There are 170 questions on the exam, of which only 140 are scored. The remaining are pretest questions. There are 110 closed-book questions and 60 open-book questions.
What is API 510 code?
covers the in-service inspection, repair, alteration, and rerating activities for pressure vessels and the pressure-relieving devices protecting these vessels. This inspection code applies to all hydrocarbon and chemical process vessels that have been placed in service unless specifically excluded per 1.2.2; but it could also be applied to process vessels in other industries at owner/user discretion. This includes:
a) vessels constructed in accordance with an applicable construction code [e.g. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code)];
b) vessels constructed without a construction code (non-code vessels)—a vessel not fabricated to a recognized construction code and meeting no known recognized standard;
c) vessels constructed and approved as jurisdictional special based upon jurisdiction acceptance of particular design, fabrication, inspection, testing, and installation;
d) nonstandard vessels—a vessel fabricated to a recognized construction code but has lost its nameplate or stamping.
